1:5 This is the word which came to us from him and which we give to you, that God is light and in
him there is nothing dark.
1:6 If we say we are joined to him, and are walking still in the dark, our words are false and our acts are untrue:
1:7 But if we are walking in the light, as he is in the light, we are all united with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son makes us clean from all sin.
1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are false to ourselves and there is nothing true in us.
1:9 If we say openly that we have done wrong, he is upright and true to his word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil.
1:10 If we say that we have no sin, we make him false and his word is not in us.
Learned:
1. We have an absolute reference, a standard universal to all mankind. That is the Word of God.
2. The quality of our lives will be how we patterned ourselves in sync with God's standard for living.
3. Words, deeds - actions and faith (which includes conviction) must align together to experience the real. Words without the support deeds are mere blowing, beating in the air. It does not amount to anything.
4. Truth says if we walk in the light, as God is Light, we are one with Him. The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Should we say we have no sin, we are not being realistic to ourselves. We have not treated ourselves with truth. We live in falsehood. That includes, lying, pretense, cover up, secret keeping, affected by fear and insecurity. There will be shame, failure, misunderstanding in communication, instability in friendship and not much loyalty; for there is no trust.
5. Confessing our wrongs openly brings healings. It takes us into the realm of freedom, to be who we are. Health springs up, pressures and expectations are taken off us.
6. When we confess our wrongs openly, God's relationship with us is restored. He promised He forgives us, because He is righteous, and faithful. He keeps His Word toward us. What He says, He does.
7. We always have a choice each day, to decide to stay with the good, i.e. God and His moral standards; or we can choose to stay with evil, which is to remain in darkness. Your day can be a day of great blessing and joy or full of blame & bitterness depending on the choice you will make for the day. Choose blessing, choose Light, and what is good. As you practice doing this every day, may the Lord bless your everyday with beautiful surprises of goodness, restorations, and genuine friendships through Jesus Christ, amen.
